When the Northern Territory Department of Corrections planned their National Corrections Day 2026 event in Darwin, they came to us on a tight timeframe with a clear brief. They needed ten orange Media Lounge bean bags, each carrying the Department of Corrections logo, comfortable enough to keep families relaxed through a full day in the Top End. From the date of order to delivery in the Northern Territory was just 21 days, custom branding and freight to Darwin included. Here is how it came together, and why the team were kind enough to thank us in writing afterwards.
the brief
National Corrections Day is a national event that recognises the people who keep Australia's corrections system running, from prison officers to community corrections staff, nurses, psychologists and teachers. It began with Corrective Services NSW in 2017 and is now marked across every state and territory. The 2026 theme was "Extraordinary Work, Extraordinary People".
For the Darwin event, the department wasn't after generic hire furniture. They wanted seating that reflected their brand and suited a family day. That came down to ten orange Media Lounge loungers in a colour that matched the department emblem, each printed with the Department of Corrections logo on the rear of the headrest.
the challenge
Three things had to line up at once.
- Branding. The Department of Corrections logo had to print cleanly on the rear of every headrest, in the right orange to match the department emblem.
- Durability. A public family day means kids, constant use and outdoor conditions, so the loungers had to be genuinely durable, looking good at the start and surviving to the end.
- Short notice. The event organiser had limited time to pull the loungers together, and Darwin is a long way from our Sydney dispatch. From order to delivery in the Northern Territory was just 21 days, with custom branding and freight to Darwin all inside that window and no margin for a late arrival.
what we made
We delivered ten orange Media Lounge bean bags, each printed with the Department of Corrections logo on the rear of the headrest and finished in a colour that tied into the department emblem and the "Extraordinary Work, Extraordinary People" theme. They were built on the hard-wearing, water-resistant construction behind our outdoor bean bags, made to handle a full day of families and kids rather than a single careful photo. And despite the short notice, we produced and dispatched them in time to reach Darwin before the event.

The day went off well, and afterwards the department presented Bean Bags R Us with a Certificate of Appreciation, dated 15 May 2026, recognising the part our loungers played. For a job turned around that fast, that recognition meant a lot.
