The Non-Inflatable Pool Float
There is no air in the Portsea Premium Pool Float. No pump, nothing to puncture, and nothing to find deflated in the morning. It floats on its bean fill, which is why it still floats in five years.
Since 2011 it has been trusted by 5-star resorts and private estates worldwide. The ergonomic shape gives full-body support on water or poolside, at 180 × 140 cm — a full-size adult float, not a perch.
Why It Floats Without Air
Water passes straight through a Portsea — that is the design, not a fault. The breathable mesh underlay drains it in seconds, and the EPS bean fill is what holds you up. Polystyrene doesn't sink, so there is nothing to inflate and nothing to go flat.
It also means you set the firmness yourself. Softer to lie back on, firmer to sit up in — your call, not ours.
Available in 10 colourways, from sunwashed neutrals to bold tropical stripes. Pairs with the Malibu and Copacabana loungers for a matching setup — browse the full pool bean bag range for complementary pieces.

Salt, Chlorine and Magnesium
Magnesium is the question we are asked more than any other, and the honest history is worth telling. Our old fabric wasn't rated for it. We changed the fabric to fix that, and the Portsea now handles saltwater, chlorinated and magnesium pools. Rinse the magnesium off after a swim and hang it to dry.
Built from custom 320 GSM Olefin, purpose-built for years of sun, saltwater and chlorine. Triple-stitched seams with UV-resistant PTFE thread resist splitting and fading. A marine-grade size-10 zipper and removable liner make filling and maintenance quick, and a 316 stainless-steel eyelet lets you tether it to a ladder, jetty or boat so it stays where you left it.
Read more on why we use Olefin across the pool range.

Filling and Care
The Portsea takes about 350 litres of standard EPS bean fill, and we don't sell it. Here is why: couriers charge every 100 litre bag as if it weighed 28 kilograms, so posting you the fill would cost more than the float does. Instead the cover ships flat and you pick the fill up locally — department stores and Spotlight both stock it. Work out your litres before you go and buy it in one trip. See our five-minute filling guide for setup.
The internal liner keeps the fill contained, makes top-ups clean, and lets you store the cover flat off-season.
Got mould? No problem. We can't stop mould — nothing outdoors can. What we can do is make sure it doesn't wreck the fabric, so it sits on the surface and cleans off. Products like Exit Mould are safe on it. Rinse after each swim to remove sunscreen, salt and chlorine, hang to dry, and store undercover between uses.

Dispatch and Warranty
Because the fill is added at your end, the cover ships flat-packed in a reusable PVC bag rather than as a freight item. Next-day dispatch from our Sydney warehouse on orders placed before 12pm, with worldwide delivery available. Filled dimensions: 180 × 140 cm.
Backed by a 12-month warranty. One honest note: no bean bag is waterproof. To be waterproof it would have to be sealed, and bean bags need airflow to work. The Portsea is water repellent and water resistant, and it drains and dries fast — which is what you actually want from something that lives in a pool.
The Portsea Pool Float comes in 10 colours: Black Stripes, Capri Blue, Charcoal Stripes, Light Grey, Lime Stripes, Navy Stripes, Orange Stripes, Taupe Stripes, Vivid Orange and Yellow Stripes.
